Jeff Gordon is a retired American professional stock car racing driver, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in NASCAR history. Born August 4, 1971, in Vallejo, California, Gordon began his racing career in open-wheel racing before transitioning to stock cars.
He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 1992 and quickly rose to prominence driving the iconic No. 24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Gordon secured four Cup Series championships (1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001) and holds the modern-era record for the most wins at the famed Talladega Superspeedway with six victories.
Beyond his championships, Gordon boasts 93 career Cup Series wins, placing him third on the all-time wins list. His on-track success, combined with his crossover appeal and marketing savvy, helped to popularize NASCAR on a national scale during the 1990s and 2000s.
Following his full-time retirement from racing in 2015, Gordon transitioned to a broadcast role, serving as a commentator for Fox NASCAR. He continues to be involved in the sport and remains an influential figure in the racing community.
